FIND YOUR NATAL CHART

For this, you’ll need your birth details – Your date, location and time of birth. I recommend going by the time on your birth certificate because sometimes parents/family may even forget these details!

There are many websites to do this – I will share my favourite one… just because it looks pretty and it is easy to navigate!

GET FAMILIAR WITH THE BASICS FIRST

Astrology is like a new language – If you are looking at your natal chart after putting in your details, you will see this! There are so many symbols and details, it may be overwhelming… But do not worry! We are going to zoom in on just a few places. BUT FIRST, let’s get familiar with the characteristics of the chart.

The PLANETS table – If you used my link for your natal chart, you will see that there is a Planets table. All the planets are teamed up with a sign. Think of it like a relationship where 2 souls have different personalities/characteristics and they have to connect with each other. And just like most relationships, some areas can be inspiring – and some areas can be a challenge. So each planet-sign as a couple goes through this together.

Ask your Self – How does the energy of this planet complement and connect to their sign?

To get an idea of this, I have a link on the energy of the planets and the signs here. You can always research specific combinations online with a simple search – For example: “What does the Sun in Virgo mean?” – “Ascendant in Pisces information” etc. There are plenty of videos and links out there for specific combinations.

I invite you to reflect on this on your own too, by looking at the qualities of the planet and the sign separately and imagining that they are together.

The HOUSES table – Scrool down to nearly the bottom of your natal chart and you will see the 12 houses, with the planets living in them. Think of the houses like a residential street with different families living in each of the 12 houses.

On one side, you will have houses 1-6 and the opposite side will be houses 7-12. Each house represents an area of your life. When a planet (with its paired sign) lives in any house, they also bring this relationship energy into this area of your life of that house. Sometimes, there are several planets (with their paired signs) living in one house. This is when things get interesting because it would be like more than one couple (planet-sign couple) living together in a house (in the area of life). The dynamics can be a space for deep reflection when we have more than 1 planet in any house.

Ask your Self – In my natal chart, which houses look crowded with more than 1 planet living in them?

Let’s get to know what the houses represent – This way we can reflect on how/what the planet-sign energy is like in the houses they live in.

IT’S TIME TO ZOOM IN…

Now, we can start to be more specific with our own chart and zoom into certain spots to get a general idea of what to look for. Please keep in mind that each person will interpret and read a natal chart differently, I am just sharing a very basic and easy way to get started with your journey!

TIP 1 – YOUR SUN, MOON & ASCENDANT

Go to the PLANETS table for this – Take note or write down what sign your Sun, Moon and Ascendant are paired up with. These are the foundations of a chart. This often gives a general flavour of the foundations of who a person is and how they use their energy.

The HOUSES table will give you an insight as to which area of life you can use this energy. For example: Your Sun-Cancer lives in the 7th House. What would that mean when you explore the dynamics of this relationship in the 7th house?

This is an invitation to do some reflections – It may not be easy at first. In fact, this first step often takes some time to get a general feel to it. Take your time, make this a personal practice and enjoy!

Reflection Questions:

What sign is paired up with your Sun? How does this reflect the way you channel your energy in your life?

What sign is paired up with your Moon? How does this reflect in your internal emotional Self?

What sign is paired up with your Ascendant? How does this reflect in your body and physical experiences?

From the links above, how does each planet/sign relationship feel like to you?

What words would you describe each planet-sign relationship?

If you look at your HOUSES table, which house do your Sun, Moon and Ascendant live in? And what area of life does each house represent?

TIP 2 – WHICH AREAS OF SOUL WORK DO YOU NEED TO EXPLORE?

We are going to do a similar process with 2-3 other planets. Using your PLANETS table, write down the signs that your Saturn, Chiron and Pluto are paired with. Then use the HOUSES table to see which house each planet-sign lives in. Write this down.

Once again, I invite you to think of each planet-sign as a relationship couple and from the links above, you can see how they mix together. Then, see which area of life this connects with from the house they each live in.

Reflection Questions:

Saturn is karmic and a strict teacher in our life – We may struggle to do the work. The same goes with Chiron and Pluto, where we often get the death/rebirth transformational healing energy… Which sign is your Saturn, your Chiron and your Pluto paired with? And which houses do each of them live in?

How do you feel about the areas of your life that correspond to these houses?

Have you felt challenged in these areas of life?

How did you change, transform and work through it?

TIP 3 – YOUR NORTH NODE DIRECTION

Your North Node will take you out of your comfort zone and push you to evolve! This is where things come together because we were born in lifetime with karma (South Node) from our ancestors and past lives – We may naturally feel familiar with these qualities in our Self- Then, the North Node is asking you to head and balance your Self in an opposite side of the spectrum. To do new things, to approach life in a way that embraces the direction of your North Node.

Let’s begin by getting familiar with what this is. I have put a link below explaining this in deeper ways for your reflection.

Don’t forget to write down which sign your North Node is paired up with (from the PLANETS table) and then write down which house it lives in (from the HOUSES table).

Reflection Questions:

Which sign and house is your North Node with? And what are your first impressions?

In what way are the area of your life (the house) and the characteristics (the sign) of your North Node asking you to change?

What feels familiar with the sign and the area of your life (house) that your South Node is in?

These are very simple basic ways to start your natal chart reading experience – If you want to dive in deeper, an astrologer will read much more into the various dynamics of each area so it is worth investing an astrology reading for this! I hope you enjoyed this podcast, stay tuned for more soon!
